The summer of 2020 broke all records in the labor market, after Romania reached its highest unemployment rate in four years this year. Thus, the demand for work has reached record highs, especially in the last 3 months, and summer is traditionally one of the quietest periods of the year.
In June, July and August, 420,000 people were looking for work, with approximately 100,000 newly registered on the www.ejobs.ro platform. Most of the candidates were between 25 and 35 years old, followed by younger ones between 18 and 24 years old.
In the last three months, employers in Romania have created more than 90,000 jobs. The areas in which the most employees are sought are sales, manufacturing, IT / telecom, banking.
"This summer, tourism and hospitality were missing from the offers of employers, but we expect the return of these sectors in the fall. In fact, this month we will see an increase in the number of jobs in all areas, "said Bogdan Badea, CEO of ejobs.ro.
In July last year, there were 362,000 unemployed registered in Romania, 58,000 less than this year. The unemployment rate in the country was 4%, while 12 months later it reached 5.4%, according to Eurostat.
