The Municipal Councils of Ruse and Giurgiu will celebrate May 9 - Europe Day, with a joint meeting

This will be the first time in the history of local parliaments from the two twin cities.

Today, the Chairman of the Ruse Municipal Council Ivo Pazardjiev had the pleasure to extend the invitation for the joint meeting personally to the Mayor Adrian Angelescu and the Public Administrator Yonel Muscalu in the Municipality of Giurgiu. The meeting was also attended by the irreplaceable assistant and activist of the fraternity between the two Danube cities - the executive director of the Euroregion "Danubius" Lili Gancheva.

The main idea of ​​the planned meeting of the municipal councils is to mark the day when Bulgaria and Romania set off together on the road to Europe. It is for this reason that on May 9 municipal councilors will adopt a joint Declaration on EU membership. The agenda will include the adoption of another Declaration, which will support the construction of a second bridge near Ruse and Giurgiu. In this way, the twin cities will once again show their readiness and desire to work together for the development of the region.

During the conversation between Pazardzhiev, Angelescu and Muscalu, the idea was born to make the joint meetings between the municipal councils of Ruse and Giurgiu traditional, with two meetings each year, one in each of the two cities. More joint initiatives between the two municipalities are also planned - the ideas for a tournament for various sports events between students from Ruse and Giurgiu with special prizes were discussed.
